Functions Of The Bumper End Cap
Protective Function
In the event of a car collision or scratch, it can reduce damage to other parts of the car body. The corrosion resistance of the end cap can extend the service life of the bumper
Decorative Body
The design of the bumper end cap is usually coordinated with the overall design of the vehicle, improving the appearance of the vehicle while also covering scratches and dents on the bumper.
Easy To Replace
The bumper end cap is relatively independent and easy to disassemble, and it is simple and convenient to replace, without large-scale repair or replacement of the entire bumper.
Surface Finishing of The T-connector – Polish / Texture
The surface is initially sanded with 600# sandpaper for a smooth, refined finish. Following this, 320# sandpaper is used on another area to eliminate major imperfections and unevenness, preparing the surface for finer sanding. This methodical process ensures optimal surface quality, balancing efficiency and precision. Texturing is often applied to meet specific aesthetic and tactile demands, particularly in automotive interiors and electronic casings, where both appearance and functionality are critical.
Parting Line Design of T-Connector
In mold design, parting lines, and slider lines play a key role in the injection molding process. Red lines are parting lines.
Draft Angle Analysis of T-Connector
After checking, the draft angle of the mold’s core and cavity meets the requirements. This ensures that the mold can be released smoothly during production, reduces the risk of product sticking to the mold, and improves production efficiency and product quality.
Slider Design of T-connector
Sliders and their parting lines, ejectors, and parting lines are key elements in mold design. Sliders are used to form complex internal structures or lateral holes, and the Slider’s parting lines are the interfaces between the Slider and the rest of the mold to ensure smooth movement during mold opening and closing.
While the ejector lifter is used to eject the molded product, the Lifter parting lines are the boundary between the ejector and the mold, ensuring a smooth and damage-free ejection process. The accurate design and processing of these parting lines is the key to ensuring the mold’s proper functioning and high product quality.
Sub-Insert Design of Bumper End Cap
In injection mold design, banana gate inserts and their insert lines, as well as insert pins and their parting lines, are key components to ensure the quality of the molded product. Banana gate inserts are used to guide the molten material into the mold cavity, and the banana gate insert lines are the interface between the inserts and the rest of the mold, to ensure a smooth flow of the material and no overflow.
Insert pins are used to form small holes or bumps in the product, and the Insert pin parting line is the boundary between the insert pin and the mold, ensuring the stability and accuracy of the insert pin during mold opening and closing. The precise design and configuration of these components and parting lines is critical to the final product quality and mold life.
Ejector Design of Bumper End Cap
- Picture 1 is the ejector layout, which is a key part of the injection mold design to ensure that the molded product can be demolded smoothly.
- Picture 2 is the state after ejection. As you can see from the photo, the side concave part has completely moved out of the mold after ejection. Therefore, it is necessary to manually remove the part in the direction of the arrow to ensure that the product is intact and undamaged to ensure smooth production.
Gate Type & Location & Size of Bumper End Cap
In this injection mold design, we used YUDO hot runner system (2IP) combined with cold runner and curved tunnel gates. The design consists of runner φ10mm and gate size φ2mm. By optimizing the make recess for gating, material waste can be reduced and injection efficiency can be improved.
The hot runner system ensures that the molten material flows at a constant temperature, reducing the generation of cold sections, while the cold runner and curved tunnel gate help to precisely control the flow path of the material for higher quality molding.
Problem Point of Bumper End Cap
Picture 1
The area marked at position 1 tends to get stuck on the cavity side of the mold, resulting in difficulties in demolding. To avoid this problem, it is recommended that a side concave design be added at the 2nd location. This will ensure that the feature stays on the core when the mold is opened, resulting in a smooth demolding. By making this improvement, downtime due to stuck molds during production can be effectively reduced, improving production efficiency and ensuring consistent product quality.
Picture 2
The red radius will be undercut and it is recommended that it be removed. This will avoid the problem of difficult mold demolding during production due to side recesses. By removing this area, the mold design can be simplified to ensure smooth demolding of the bumper end cap, thus increasing productivity and reducing potential mold maintenance requirements.
Picture 3
The pointed pink areas are undercut for the slider and it is recommended that these areas be adjusted to the draft angle by reducing the amount of material in these areas to allow for a smooth release of the slider. This adjustment will help reduce obstructions during the demolding process and ensure that the slider moves smoothly when the mold is opened, improving productivity and bumper end cap quality. By optimizing the design of these areas, more stable mold operation can be achieved, reducing downtime and repairs due to stuck molds.
Picture 4
This area will still be undercut to the core after the slide is released. To avoid this, it is recommended that this tab be shortened by 3.5 mm. This adjustment will help ensure a smoother mold opening and demolding process and reduce release difficulties due to undercutting. By shortening the tab, the mold design can be optimized to increase productivity and ensure consistent product quality. This not only reduces the risk of potential mold jamming but also reduces the frequency and mold maintenance costs.
Mold Layout of Rear Bumper End Cap
Reasonable mold layout design needs to take into account factors such as the injection molding machine, mold, cooling system, operating space and molded product removal to ensure the efficient operation of the production process and the quality of the final product.
Packing Delivery
Before delivery, we will fully maintain and clean the molds to make sure the surface of the molds are smooth and internal impurities. Then anti-shock material and protective padding are packed and put into wooden crates and labeled with model and quantity information.
