Questions about Injection Mold

Questions about Injection Mold

What types of injection molds can you customize?

We design and produce various types of molds tailored to different industries and applications, including single-color molds, two-shot molds, precision molds, multi-cavity molds, automotive interior/exterior molds, medical molds, and electronic connector molds—covering everything from prototype to mass production needs.

What documents do we need to provide during the initial stage of mold development?

Thank you for your contact! To expedite the mold project launch, please provide the following essential documents. Supplementary files may be added based on product requirements:

1. Essential Core Documents to Submit
  • Product 2D Drawings: With complete dimensions, tolerances, parting line locations, and draft angles (recommended in PDF or DWG format).
  • 3D Model Files: In STEP/STP/IGES formats (ensure all features are intact without surface defects).
  • Material Specifications: Plastic type (e.g., PC+ABS), color codes, and special properties (flame retardancy, high-temperature resistance, etc.)
2. Recommended Supplementary Materials

Production & Mold Parameters:

  • Annual production forecast (e.g., 300,000 units/year).
  • Mold lifespan requirement (e.g., >500,000 shots).
  • Cavity number request (single-cavity/multi-cavity/family mold).

Surface Finish Requirements:

  • Texture/grain finishing (provide texture code).
  • Polishing grade (e.g., SPI-A2).

Mold Steel Preference:

  • Specify if using designated steels (e.g., S136, 718H).
3. Additional Documents for Special Cases
  • Mold Flow Analysis Requirements Sheet: Required if specific analysis is needed (e.g., weld line positioning, sink mark risks). If not provided, we will submit a report following standard procedures.
  • Functional Testing Standards: Provide test criteria if the product requires drop tests, air-tightness tests, etc.
  • Physical Samples/Photos: Recommended for complex structures or appearance-critical parts to avoid design misunderstandings.

We will provide technical feasibility feedback and optimization suggestions within 48 hours after receiving complete documentation.

How do you ensure the precision and dimensional stability of injection molds?

We ensure precision through advanced equipment (such as 5-axis CNC, mirror EDM, and CMM inspection) and a strict process control system. Each component is fully inspected and test-fitted before assembly, followed by multiple mold trials to verify part dimensions, fitting accuracy, and stability for mass production.

Precision CNC Machining

Questions about CNC Machining

For sure. Actually we have no MOQ request in order to support customers, even you just order one parts. This is advantage for you if you have new idea to market fast without being tied to a specific quantity.

We design and produce various types of molds tailored to different industries and applications, including single-color molds, two-shot molds, precision molds, multi-cavity molds, automotive interior/exterior molds, medical molds, and electronic connector molds—covering everything from prototype to mass production needs.

How accurate can CNC machining be for complex geometries?

For intricate 3D shapes and curved surfaces, 5-axis CNC machining typically maintains ±0.005 mm to ±0.01 mm precision. When combined with fine grinding or EDM, tolerances can be improved to ±0.003 mm in key areas. Through optimized toolpath programming and thermal compensation, even highly complex geometries can achieve exceptional dimensional stability and surface quality.

How long does CNC machining usually take?

Lead time depends on part complexity, material, precision, and quantity. Standard parts are typically completed within 3–7 days, while multi-process or 5-axis precision parts may take 1–3 weeks. We plan each project’s process route and machine schedule carefully and can offer expedited service for urgent orders.

Questions about Mold Components

What types of mold components can be customized?

Common custom mold components include:

  • Sliders and Lifters: Enable lateral demolding or forming of complex features.
  • Core and Cavity Inserts: Define the product shape and dimensions, serving as the mold’s core functional parts.
  • Insert Components:For localized forming or quick replacement of specific mold regions.
  • Ejector Pins & Sleeves: Ensure smooth ejection of molded parts.
  • Cooling Components: Such as water nozzles and manifolds to ensure efficient mold cooling.
  • Special surface or wear-resistant parts: High-hardness or coated parts, depending on the plastic material.
What materials are available for mold components?

Common materials include:

  • Pre-hardened Steel(e.g., P20, 1.2738, 718H) – good machinability, suitable for medium-volume molds.
  • Hardened Steel(e.g., H13, S136, 1.2344) – high hardness and wear resistance, ideal for high-precision, high-volume core components.
  • Stainless Steel(e.g., 420, 1.2316) – corrosion-resistant, suitable for medical or transparent molds.
  • Copper Alloy(e.g., BeCu) – excellent thermal conductivity for efficient cooling; Powder Metallurgy steel and Tungsten Carbide are used for high-wear parts such as sliders, inserts, or punches.
What is the typical machining accuracy of custom components?

For standard components, machining accuracy is generally within ±0.01mm. For critical functional parts like cores, cavities, sliders, or guides, we can achieve ±0.005mm or higher as required. All components undergo strict inspection before shipment to ensure dimensional tolerances, fit, and surface quality fully meet design standards.

Questions about Cooperation Business

How we see your quality and products everything is OK?

Every parts after every process we will inspect, when the inspection passed, then we will go to the next process. And also when the parts are finished we will send you a complete measurement report, and photos for every parts. When you confirmed the measurement report and the photos. Then we will deliver it to you.

How an you ensure On-time delivery of orders?

Kehui ensures on-time delivery through efficient planning and dual-factory collaboration. Our two factories collaborate to balance production capacity — one specializes in small and medium-sized molds and components, while the other focuses on large, complex molds and precision parts.

We use a project management system to monitor each stage from design to shipment, ensuring clear timelines and fast coordination. For urgent projects, both factories can run 24-hour shifts to speed up machining and assembly without compromising quality.

With flexible scheduling, real-time tracking, and strict quality control, we deliver every order on time and with guaranteed precision.

What do you think about your delivery time?

For the sliders, lifters we can finish in about 20 days, and deliver by DHL is about 3 or 4 days. For the complete molds the heavy things for save the delivery cost, we can use our own forwarder, some air transfer forwarders which is cheaper than the DHL but a bit longer, about 1 or 1 and half week for the transportation. And also you can use your delivery forwarder supplier, both OK
