Injection Molded Parts

In the injection molding process, the reduction of defective rate can not only improve the production efficiency, but also significantly reduce the production cost. Reducing the defective rate of injection molded parts needs to start from many aspects, covering material selection, equipment adjustment, mold design, process optimization and quality control.

Optimize Material Selection

  • Choose the Right Raw Material: Select the right plastic material according to the product’s usage requirements and ensure its compatibility with the production equipment.
  • Control the Humidity of Raw Materials: Most plastic materials are sensitive to moisture, and excessive humidity will lead to bubbles or surface defects in the injection molded parts.
  • Strictly Control the Ratio of Additives: Too many or unsuitable additives will affect the plastic fluidity and lead to uneven mold filling.

Reasonable Adjustment of Injection Molding Equipment Parameters

  • Injection Speed and Pressure: Adjust the injection speed and injection pressure so that the plastic material can fill the mold cavity evenly and quickly to avoid bubbles, burning, or incomplete filling.
  • Temperature Control: Adjust the temperature of the barrel, mold, and nozzle appropriately to ensure the stability of plastic fluidity and viscosity during injection.
  • Cooling Time and Cooling Temperature: Ensure adequate cooling after filling the mold to avoid uneven shrinkage or warping and deformation due to insufficient cooling.

Improve Mold Design and Maintenance

  • Reasonable Design of Exhaust System: Mold design should ensure good exhaust channels to avoid gas accumulation resulting in bubbles and surface defects.
  • Mold Cooling System Design: The mold cooling system must be designed reasonably to ensure uniform cooling and reduce local overheating and deformation problems.
  • Mold surface quality: Excessive roughness or the presence of abrasion on the surface of the mold may lead to a non-smooth surface of plastic products, so the mold should be inspected and maintained regularly.

Process Optimization

  • Adjust the Mold Temperature at the Right Time: According to the different requirements of the products, adjust the mold temperature at the right time to keep the best molding temperature.
  • Reasonable Selection of Injection Time: Control the appropriate injection time, and avoid too long or too short injection time resulting in poor molding.
  • Charging Method: For some complex products, methods such as segmented charging or double injection should be used to ensure uniform filling of the mold.

Enhanced Quality Control and Inspection

  • Real-time Monitoring of the Injection Molding Process: Through the use of advanced sensors and monitoring equipment, real-time tracking of parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, etc., to ensure the stability of the production process.
  • Sampling Inspection and Statistical Analysis: Regularly conduct sampling inspections on the produced injection molded parts and use statistical methods to analyze the causes of defects to make targeted adjustments.
  • Finished Product Inspection: Carry out comprehensive physical, chemical, and appearance inspections on finished products to detect and reject unqualified products in time.

Regular Training

The operating skills and experience of production personnel play a vital role in the quality control of injection molded parts. to reduce the rate of defective products, regular training can be provided to operators to improve their understanding of the injection molding process and operational proficiency. At the same time, technicians should be encouraged to accumulate experience and summarize the best operating practices and solutions in the production process.
