FAQ Of PMMA Materials
Visit our FAQ center for more questions.
What are the advantages of PMMA plastic compared to ordinary glass?
PMMA is lighter (density ~1.18 g/cm³), more impact-resistant (less prone to shattering), and has higher light transmittance (over 92%). It is also easier to process and mold, making it a suitable replacement for glass in applications like signage, lighting fixtures, and protective covers.
What is the heat resistance of PMMA plastic?
PMMA can withstand continuous use at temperatures up to 80°C (176°F) and short-term exposure to 100°C (212°F). However, prolonged exposure to higher temperatures may cause deformation, so it is not recommended for high-temperature environments.
Is PMMA plastic prone to scratching? How should it be cleaned and maintained?
PMMA has a relatively low surface hardness (Mohs hardness ~2-3) and can be easily scratched by sharp objects. For cleaning, use a soft cloth with mild detergent, and avoid alcohol or abrasive cleaners. Store away from sharp objects to prevent surface damage.
