Functions Of The VDA Connector
High Precision
Manufactured with advanced injection molding technology, ensuring tight tolerances and exacting standards for automotive applications.
Durability
Designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, vibrations, and exposure to chemicals, ensuring long-lasting performance.
Ease of Assembly
The VDA connector is designed for easy integration into automotive systems, reducing assembly time and improving overall production efficiency.
Surface Finishing – Polish / Texture
Surface treatment is crucial in the manufacturing of plastic products. The blue surface of Mark 1, as shown in the picture, should be polished to an SPI-B2 finish, while the green surface should feature a textured VDI 3400-24 sparkling finish.
The Parting Line Design Of VDA Connector
In unscrewing mold design, the parting lines and slider lines are essential to the injection molding process. The red line represents the VDA connector of the parting line, while the blue lines indicate the slider parting lines.
The Draft Angle Analysis Of VDA Connector
Picture 1:
- For the first green surface, we recommend adding a 0.5-degree draft angle on the cavity side to improve ejection and enhance the overall quality of the molded part. Currently, this surface lacks a draft angle.
- For the second green surface, a 0.2-degree draft angle should be added on the cavity side to facilitate better mold release and prevent potential molding issues.
- The third green surface functions as a shut-off in the tool. To ensure a proper seal and improve both durability and functionality, we suggest incorporating a 3-degree draft angle on the cavity side.
Picture 2:
Picture 3:
The ribs indicated on the part currently create an undercut on the core side of the mold, which could complicate the molding process, particularly during part ejection. This undercut may result in issues such as part sticking, mold damage, or defects in the final product. To resolve this, we suggest adjusting the draft angle to 0.5 degrees on the core side.
This modification, as shown in the image, will eliminate the undercut, ensuring smoother ejection, reducing the risk of mold damage, and improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the molding process.
Picture 4:
We recommend adding a 0.5-degree draft angle by removing material on the slider in the first green surface. This surface currently lacks a draft angle. Additionally, we suggest adding a 0.2-degree draft angle by cutting material on the slider side of the second green surface.
Picture 5:
The red surface of the part requires adjustment for smoother demolding during the molding process. We propose adding a 0.2-degree draft angle by carefully removing material from the red surface. This modification is crucial for proper slider mechanism function during demolding, as it will reduce the risk of part sticking and minimize potential defects.
Slider & Lifter Design Of VDA Connector
The design of the slider plays a crucial role in injection mold manufacturing. It involves the precise arrangement of sliders within the unscrewing mold structure, along with the careful planning of slide trajectories and channels to achieve the desired shapes or structural features in elbow sliding products.
VDA Connector Ejector Design
Due to the complexity of the product structure, this tool requires two hot nozzles for injection. The two hot nozzles are used in conjunction with a cold runner for submersible injection. The gate size is Ø1.2mm, with a small reinforcing rib measuring 1.9 × 2.3 × 5.2mm.
Gate Type & Location & Size of VDA Connector
In the plastic injection molding process, the gate type, location, and size are critical factors that directly impact the quality and production efficiency of the molded product.
The Problem Points of VDA Connector
In Figure 1, we recommend removing the rounded design highlighted in red to optimize the slider’s parting line. This adjustment will enhance the slider’s alignment accuracy in the mold, reduce stress concentration at the parting line, and ultimately improve both the mold’s performance and the product’s manufacturing quality.
In Figure 2, an inverted structure is shown beneath the slider, located on the blue surface below the blue parting line. This feature hinders proper demolding. To ensure smooth mold release, we suggest removing a portion of the material as illustrated. This modification will prevent demolding issues during production, ensuring both the quality and efficiency of the part manufacturing process.
Unscrewing Mold Layout
A well-designed unscrewing mold layout must take into account factors such as the injection molding machine, mold structure, cooling system, operating space, and product removal process. This ensures the efficient operation of the production process and the high quality of the final VDA connector product.
Packing Delivery
Before delivery, we will fully maintain and clean the molds to make sure the surface of the molds are smooth and internal impurities. Then anti-shock material and protective padding are packed and put into wooden crates and labeled with model and quantity information.
